General Accountability
 
This role is responsible for the end to end management of Indonesian IT functions, including management of third parties and regional support functions (eg. GIS, IRM).

  • Provide holistic Information Technology Services in support of Indonesian business in attainment of business strategies. Including but not limited to:

  • Project Delivery - Deliver projects and enhancements related to system changes and implementation of new systems or solutions to support operational efficiencies and distribution channel and partnership growth. 

  • Product Development - Deliver and implement new products and day-2 items based on agreed Product Management roadmaps.

  • Production Support - Maintain overall system stability and availability by incident problem solving and service request handling while minimizing ADM backlogs.

  • Business Relationship Management - maintain a strong sense of customer focus with business partners, capturing business requirements and collaborating on shared business goals.

  • IT Strategy & Architecture - Ensure project portfolio is aligned to business strategy. Maintain robust solution and enterprise architecture practices across the portfolio maximizing reuse of solutions and ensuring the lifecycle management of legacy technologies.

  • IT Demand Management - Establish and maintain robust prioritization, resource and capacity planning practices.

  • Vendor Management & Infrastructure Services - Manage supplier relationships and SLAs where third party services are utilized. Including and not limited to internal global/regional shared services such as GIS, IRM and Asia COEs.

  • IT Risk and Quality Management - Set up and run software quality assurance, risk and IT Security practices ensuring compliance with Audit requirements to minimize risk.

  • Provide timely, transparent and accurate information and communications to the Executive, key MANULIFE personnel and partners/service providers including (but not limited to): SLA's, incident trends, throughput, ageing, capacity (supply/demand), project delivery, people and financials.

  • Interact and develop strong collaborative communication/relationships with key country and regional Business & IT leaders (including but not limited to: technology office, program services, IT performance, PMO, regional ADM, CIOs and country IT Heads) and Service providers to ensure transparency on key application service activities and practices.
 
This role is directly linked to the achievement and enablement of Manulife Indonesia's business strategy.
 
                                                                                                                                                           
 
Responsibilities
 
Strategy & Planning
  1. Maintain a thorough understanding of MANULIFE Asia and Indonesia's business and IT strategies to provide support during various technology decision making activities

  2. Ongoing management of Indonesia portfolio and IS budget to match business demands.

  3. Provide the Asia Executive and other decision-making bodies with timely and relevant information on areas of responsibility, including regular reports on progress against plans and budgets and on key performance indicators.
 
IT Function

Transformation Delivery & Regional Alignment

  1. Provide leadership, IT expertise and business acumen in the Indonesian market in order to strengthen and develop Manulife Asia's credibility both internally and in the market place; This includes but is not limited to strategic partnership integrations such as DBS, Danamon Bank etc.

  2. Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors while also providing strategic direction to promote and ensure effective collaboration between vendors and project teams. Seek opportunities to leverage Regional IT delivery centres (COEs) to maximize IP retention and skills/solution reuse across multiple markets.

  3. Provide direction, consultancy and support to the business operations and project teams and up-skill IT capability across functions and teams within relevant locations;

  4. Oversee the successful delivery of relevant digital transformation commitments related to major Asia improvement and growth initiatives;

  5. Works closely with Regional teams and Leadership peers to ensure world-class project management activities are embedded into Manulife Asia programs to ensure they are delivered to scope, budget and schedule expectations;

  6. Drives effective management of resources to drive resolution of identified project issues and risks, and gains internal / external buy-in that risks and issues are effectively mitigated within desired tolerance levels;


Financial Management

  1. Responsible for the effective management of Manulife Indonesia IT function and ensuring value realization is realized from financial budgets assigned.

  2. Collaborate with appropriate regional functions (eg. GIS) to attain necessary financial insights, to ensure value realization of captive and third party services;

People Management& Leadership

  1. Provide leadership and management to Manulife IS organisation of 80+ resources to deliver and exceed on growth expectations, profitability, operating targets and to maximize shareholder value

  2. Collaborate with the Manulife IT and Operations team to build an 'exciting and innovative' culture within the teams across Asia that strives to be best in market and customer focused;

  3. Establish clear accountabilities and authority levels for direct reports and build a strong culture of accountability and performance in order to ensure delivery of business goals;

  4. Ensure the resource mix and talent is appropriate to the required delivery challenges across the Region;

  5. Promote excellence through the attraction, continual development and retention of high quality team members with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to deliver excellent outcomes and service;

  6. Demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to local regional and global sensitivities;

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education
 
1. Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
2. Knowledge/Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in senior roles within IS functions

  • 10+ years of experience in project delivery & Software Development Life Cycle (SLDC)

  • Extensive experience dealing with third parties

  • Extensive experience working with remote/geographically dispersed teams in an on/offshore model

  • Experience in Application development, design & integration

  • Strong understanding of the insurance industry, key principles of business and competitive strategy, and evolving digital and societal trends

  • Awareness of developing IT/insurance & cross industry/competitor trends (applications, delivery models, new technology concepts etc)

  • Appreciation of cultural differences across the Asia region

  • Strongly networked in local market
